About

Native Hungarian born artist, Emese Blount, now residing in Memphis, Tennessee. , earned her degree from Janus Pannonius University/Hungary , where she studied biology and art. She received a teaching degree as well.
She has studied 14th century frescoes in Northern Italy and studied stone and plaster sculpting. She worked on public and private design projects.
She brought that knowledge to the United States in 1994 where she attended several prominent finishing schools to learn faux and decorative finishes. She received training in a full range of classical applications, including wood graining, marbling, patinas, glazing and architectural finishes.

She established Studio Sabo in 1996 serving Memphis and the Tri-State area.
Her disciplined approach comes from her education, but mostly from years of practice in her business. This earned her recognition and respect for her accomplishments in the fields of decorative finishes and she became the lead artist for Crye-Leike Real Estate company residential faux finish program in Memphis, completing many successful projects.
Her training in sculpting prepared her to complete ornamental plaster restoration projects in buildings on the National Register of Historical Places. She restored severely damaged plaster works in the 1880’s Memphis Custom House-now University of Memphis Law School and the historical 1923 Shrine Building, where she also created age appropriate wood graining finishes for the interiors of the original elevators.
Emese Blount continues to expand her knowledge and skills, experimenting with new materials and ideas to invent and create to lead her to new possibilities in painted finishes and designs.
